Characteristics: Gymnosperms which means "naked seed" evolved somewhere around 300 million years ago.All gymnosperms are wind pollinated which sets off a high amount of reproductive cells into the air. Gymnosperms have special seeds which are suppose to float onto the air or in water basically to travel away and or separate from their parent plant. Example of Gymnosperms are conifers which are redwoods, pine trees and cypress trees.
Adaptions: Leaf adaptions Weather doesn't affect the amount of water that is moved to the tree Advantages of having a cone: It protects the seeds from harm and gives them a safe place to grow. Having a cone can come with many advantages but one important advantage of having a cone is safety. It protects the seed from harmful things that can either kill it or affect it.
